How To: The Guide for a Universal Dresser?!

  While grabbing a snack at the local dunkin' donuts with some friends, in walked this female. No one really noticed her visually but it was almost as if this woman emanated such confidence that it stunned my entire table silent. She strutted around the line towards her friend seated at the table directly behind me. Conversation didn't resume until five minutes later and the way she walked in was all we could talk about. I mean, this woman was not only tall but she had the model body and that strut she just gave us was runway ready! What eventually came to our attention was that, this woman everyone was gushing over was actually a male. To say many of us were surprised would be an understatement. Since none of us really did take the time to actually look at her properly to spot the truth, we weren't really bothered- stunned is more appropriate and jealous. We were a group of girls who couldn't walk with as much courage this female just entered the restaurant with, never the less we were still awe struck by how well this man could portray such a confident female.

  Male cross dressing or males dressing with more femininity personally, is like art to me. When done right, a male can look just as stunning as he would have if he dressed masculine. For instance, a male can dress shouldn't dress with tight, revealing, and busty looking female clothes. No! Looking like your drunk pot-bellied Uncle Bill after one too many beers is not attractive, more like creepy. There are ways one can go about dressing like a female without looking like their Uncle Bill. Soft textures and colors can help. Look for clothes that are feminine and made for men. Usually I would suggest comparing your body build with certain clothing can help too but I don't want to promote a certain image. Anyways, like I was saying, there are also stores that sell female clothing but with a male touch. J W Anderson's fall 2013 men's wear line has done a more feminine route.

      Men aren't the only ones to cross dress, we girls like to add some masculinity to our style every once in a while. Although there are tomboys, and  lesbians who prefer dressing like a boy, there are also those of us who are just genuinely curious as to how we would look if we dressed as a guy. You don't have to build your body to shape that of a man, and you don't have to wear actualya men's clothing. The ever beautiful miss Agyness Deyn has mastered the art of dressing like the opposite sex but still hold her femininity. Although Deyn's hair is cut short, you don't need to get a short do to pull off the boy look. Singer Ciara had her long locks braided for her music video "Like A Boy". 

      I honestly believe everyone has cross dressed at least once in their life. Whether it was as a child, trying on mommy or daddy's clothes. During Halloween or even just because you wanted to, there's nothing wrong embracing both your masculinity and femininity. You are you and no one can change that. Thanks for reading!

All Stripes Baby! No, I Don't Mean Zebras

So for my very first blog - ever - someone suggested that I should right about black and white vertical and horizontal patterns. The "How To" on when and where to wear them. Truthfully, I was never really a big fan of black and white stripes. Don't get me wrong, they're marvelously adaptive? If that's the correct word to use. You can wear them with almost anything! 

Calling all tomboys! This first look I chose was solely based on the fact that, the black and white striped skirt stands out among the blue muscle tee and sneakers- and actually work! Remember when I claimed not liking the stripes? Well this is one look I would certainly wear! The pop of lime green in the belt really accentuate the boldness of the stripes. The skirt says business but paired with the loose half tucked blue tee and the sneakers gives it a sort of "tomboy-ish chic". 

Hangout time! In this outfit, the black and white skirt has been paired with not only a studded belt but also a red leather biker jacket to make it pop! These two items give the outfit the edge it needed. The belt gives the skirt a very classic touch. It makes the outfit appropriate for dinners, dates, and daily outings anywhere. With the red jacket added, this ensemble now has a more edgy look. The color red alone will bring attention to the black and white. This is the outfit you would wear out Friday night with friends or to the concert of your favorite band/artist.

Day at the office! This look is a personal favorite of mines. Where do I start?! Okay first lets look at how well the skirt and shirt blends well. Sticking to dark colors in the tights and shoes, this really helped the jacket pop! The jacket's mid-arm length and jet black collar effortlessly makes the thin white lines in the shirt appear vibrant; both pieces complement each other. The plain black skirt and tights gives the look a conservative touch but still fabulous. It's the perfect look for a day at the office or even a day out to brunch or to catch an early dinner with a friend. 

Now I have seen many variations of outfits where you can use your stripes. Usually pairing the top or bottom with either solid white or black works but using solid colors in general can work also. These solid colors make the stripes stand out in the outfit. Minimal accessories are at use too. A bag and necklace alone can simply complement the entire outfit without the hassle of bangles, belts, headbands, watches and etc. I really feel accomplished on finishing my very first blog! Now I'm off to buying me some stripes! Even if fall is approaching and styles have changed, you cant go wrong with black ad white! Thanks for reading!
